Prakruthi and Purusha- Energy and matter!

Hello all,

Namaste!
I want to let my blog readers know about my new website-swaroopa.net. It came live on Vijayadasami day, the last day of Navrathri, 7th of October 2019. This is my way of offering my services to anyone who needs it. The details are described on the website. The actual service offering may take another few months while I figure out the remaining technical details. Now to the post.

Hope all of you had a great week, where you were able to bring your spirit to the higher realms of the Soul. Last week, we discussed the difference between the Soul and the Spirit. Only after the spirit becomes the Soul, it can take up the task of guiding the being to their true path. Because the Soul or the energy of the spirit needs to work through the faculties of the being, if the being is non-aware of their own task or purpose, the energy of the Soul is trapped within the being never to see the daylight of the Sun.

Some beings are also born like that who many times never have a chance to align their own awareness with their Soul. Thus, the greatest potential embedded within their Soul never gets a chance to come out to the full bloom. So, it becomes the Dharma of the being to first fully realize 'Who they are?' 'What is their purpose of being born into this present life?' It is not an easy work. Nobody can help them. Only their own intuition and feelings would come handy during this inner journey.

Hence, many of the Masters have written about this very arduous journey. Some fall off the huge edges of the cliff of the mind. Some sunk into the deepest, darkest recess of their own mind. But the person who has the great will power finds their success as well. Only once we realize our own purpose can we start the real work we are supposed to do in this life. Most probably that work would be very much connected with the fellow souls as well.

No being in this Universe is an island. Many times we may consider ourselves so. But any true endeavor that is connected to their Dharma would have others in the mix as well. Let us take two examples. These two people were beings who kept most to themselves. But their Dharma led many people to enjoy their creativity. One is Virginia Woolf, the early twentieth century English writer and author. She was extremely introverted and didn't like to be around people. But her novels and essays brought her world acclaim and numerous people enjoyed her literary mastery.

Another person was the musician, Prince (Prince Rogers Nelson). He used to write his own lyrics and sing his music. He also used to like his quietude. His final days he spent in his estate in Minnesota. His record label 'Purple Rain' was an all time hit. In both the cases, even though they had a very separate private life, their Dharma or creativity was very much connected with the people and among the people. Many times people don't realize. Huge, out of this world success never happens in a vacuum. But this success many times is deeply connected to their own Dharma. So, it becomes a must for people to realize their own true purpose.

The energy dynamics: Once the Soul, or more aptly the being realizes their own Dharma, now the being can start their true work. For anything to happen in the physical realm there are two very different energies involved. Many cultures name them in different ways. It can be called Divine masculine/Divine feminine, Shiva/Shakthi, Yang/Yin or Purusha and Prakruthi. Many times people consider Prakruthi and Purusha as two divine Vedic Gods.

But in truth these are energy archetypes that play or have a big part in our life. Each being embodies the two energies. They need to be balanced. Being too much of one is not good, actually is bad. Purusha is the male energy- the ambitious, go-getter, leader and the authority in each one of us. If this energy becomes too much, the person becomes arrogant, over-bearing and selfish. They would start to take care of their things-only their things alone. There is no consideration about others.

But this go-getter attitude falls short as the energy of Prakruthi, creativity is getting suppressed. Creativity is the feminine part-intuitive, creative, inspirational and emotional. Creativity finds its creation through the emotive mind. If the emotions are suppressed how can they flow. That is why many times domineering people are not intuitive or creative. The rational mind has overtaken the creative mind.

There is a bad side to this as well. Too much of creativity and intuitiveness would make a person very emotional and sensitive. If they are always swayed and emotionally triggered, how can they become creative? For creation to flow, you have to take your intuitiveness, ideas and creativity and give it a solid physical form, the realm of the Purusha. The realm of matter. Same way the realm of emotion is that of Prakruthi or energy.

So, for creativity to come about, both Purusha and Prakruthi are needed. If one or the other is more, creativity does not happen. Let us take the example of Prince. He was a highly creative being. The lyrics of his songs would have been constantly arising in his mind- Prakruthi. But, he would have to take the pen and paper or computer and literally jot down the lyrics- Purusha. Now, he has to create a music that goes well for the lyrics- Prakruthi. After that, that song had to be played with literal physical instruments- Purusha. Like this with every creation, the interplay of the masculine and feminine energy is needed.

Prakruthi- In Vedic philosophy, Prakruthi, is the innate nature, the creative nature of a being. A being who has not tapped into their own creative energy many times miss the deep satisfaction that comes with creating something. This creativity is coming from within. Even the Universe is highly creative. The Star systems and galaxies are being formed all the time. In these times, due to the mad rush behind a job, career and wealth, we suppress our own creative nature and go behind the corporate or industrial ladder.

This suppresses our own creativity. Many times around the midlife we lose meaning for our own life. Look at the way people are knocking the doors of Psychologists or other medical professionals. This is the deep dissatisfaction that creeps up slowly and silently that turns into depression. It has even been proven, this dissatisfaction can bring stress/depression. The stress brings out the stress hormones that make changes in the cell and hormones. It is a matter of time before some diseases or conditions show up in our body. This can show up as any number of diseases.

Most usually much before the physical condition itself shows up, the person would have gone through emotional or mental stress. We have not understood the real power of the mind. The mind can really make or break a person. So, see how our innate nature or Prakruthi is important. This nature has to be found and be lived for the Soul energy to come about. This creativity is not dependant upon our relationships, life status or other criteria. It is the pure expression of our own inner nature. The creative energy that comes about as the divine spark. Prakruthi!

Purusha: Now, the Purusha is the yang part, the masculine. The easel on which the painting or creativity should come alive. This is the matter. The easel of life, our physical existence. That is the drawing board. What are we going to create with our life or our being? The physical and tangible effect of our own creativity. This can be as simple as a painting or as massive as a company called Microsoft. Pablo Picasso used his creativity towards painting while Bill Gates used it towards his company Microsoft.

Both started as a divine spark of an idea, the realm of pure creativity. In one case the energy flowed as a painting and in another as a multi-billion dollar company. The outward expression of the inner nature. One being been a painter while another was a techno geek. But both were using their creativity/inner nature or Prakruthi to bring about their own Purusha or the material manifestation of their own creativity.

So, here one is not above the other. Both are needed very much for the creation to take place. The masculinity and femininity does not need to clash. Both need to exist in balance within the same person to bring out their own creative expression. It is when one side is less, the balance becomes skewed more towards the other side. This produces men who have lost touch with their emotions and women who are a sensitive, crying mess. Both does not work for the creation to happen.

The dance of Prakruthi and Purusha: In Hinduism, Shiva and Shakthi, the divine masculine and divine feminine are depicted as Ardhanariswara. The God who is half male and half female. Balance of both energies coexisting as a beautiful symphony in the being. Only when it is perfectly balanced the dance of creation happens. Instead of realizing this fundamental truth, we fight with each other. Yes, progress needs to happen. But it is not by fighting constantly with each other as groups or divisions.

Progress should happen as outer expression of creativity- as innovation, technology, progress towards a better tomorrow. For that we don't have to put anyone down. We as a being just have to realize our own inner nature, access our creativity and bring it out as a beautiful manifestation of our creative self. Anyone who has acquired huge success in their own life most probably deeply know their own inner nature. Without knowing our own nature, it is extremely difficult to bring out our unique brand of creativity. If Bill Gates had written music, it would not have become as successful as Microsoft. If Prince had pursued a path of corporate business, he would have been just another business person.

But because they knew deeply who they were, they were able to bring out their own version of creativity. That became a majestic dance of their Prakruthi and Purusha- energy and matter. Their names were etched in golden letters of accomplishments- their own unique versions. So, now the question to each one of us- Shouldn't we also capture our own version of Prakrthi and Purusha? Of course, that is always our free will and choice!

I wish you a good weekend and I'll see you next Friday!😉
